About the Kilowatt Crackdown |
BOMA Greater Minneapolis, BOMA Greater Saint Paul & Xcel Energy challenge the real estate community
to reduce energy, save costs, and position commercial office buildings for the
future. BOMA believes that proactive, voluntary conservation
initiatives that produce positive measurable results are the best way to deter
federal and state government mandates to achieve conservation goals. We’re
looking to find the buildings that will save the most energy in 2012, and
recognize the leaders in the Minneapolis and Saint Paul area.
How the Competition Works
Participants will be asked to enter their building into the competition
by filling out a short registration form.
The competition will be based on the energy saved through energy efficiency
improvements made in your building in 2012. All data will be pulled from Xcel
Energy’s Conservation Improvement Program (CIP) participation. Xcel Energy will
be responsible for pulling the data which means all you need to do is register
your building and Xcel Energy will do the rest.
Then tune-up your building as you best see fit!
Awards will be given in
multiple categories in the spring of 2013, providing ample time to adequately
budget, schedule and implement your plans. There are 13 ways to win, but you
must register your building by March 31, 2012 so don’t miss out.
You must be a BOMA member and an Xcel Energy customer to
participate in the contest. Submitted buildings must be at least 30,000 square
feet.
