Committees

The strength of BOMA Greater Minneapolis lies in the outstanding work of its standing committees, each staffed by member volunteers. The dozens of commercial real estate professionals involved are drawn from every part of the commercial real estate industry.  These people provide the breadth of leadership and the solid core of interested volunteers who make Greater Minneapolis BOMA one of BOMA International's most active and dynamic local associations.
BOMA Young Professionals

Meets monthly, September through April, to provide educational and networking opportunities in a comfortable environment of peers for young real estate professionals.

This Committee works to develop content and design of the BOMA newsletter and website.

Engineers Program Committee

This committee develops the monthly Engineers meeting program content and speaker selection assuring the highest quality and broadest interest possible in program selection.

Government Affairs Council

This committee monitors and influences legislative and regulatory activity at the local and state level on issues affecting members' interests.  BOMAs ongoing legislative priorities are to defend property tax reforms and to support adequate transportation funding to address growing congestion in the metropolitan area. This committee also coordinates with BOMA International on Federal legislative  and regulatory matters.

Medical Buildings Special Interest Group

This Special Interest Group serves as a forum for education and discussion of problems, issues, and trends unique to medical office buildings.

Membership Committee

This committee’s work is to strengthen our association by drawing in more individual members, by promoting a broader base of support by members’ buildings, and by seeking strategies to retain members, especially during ownership and management changes.

Service Providers Council

The Council's purpose is to engage all types of membership (Regular, Associate and Professional) in a meaningful way for the good of Greater Minneapolis BOMA.

Their goals are:
  • Event Sponsorship -- Assist BOMA Minneapolis in promoting opportunities and helping to ensure that event sponsors are pleased with their return on sponsorship investment.  Sponsorship opportunities include events, newsletters, meetings, seminars, and the BOMA website. The SPC would like to assist other committees with their sponsorship needs.
  • Creating Trusted Partnerships -- Individuals from all levels of BOMA membership have positive attributes to share with the greater BOMA membership. The Service Providers Council will create opportunities to further develop trusted partnerships that increase realized value from BOMA membership.

Recognizing that members learn a lot from each other, this committee plans and carries out special events that provide more opportunities for networking and more meaningful opportunities to participate for Associate and Professional members.

This committee promotes participation in The Outstanding Building of the Year Awards program, coaching local participants for success at the BOMA International level of the competition.
