BOMA Greater Minneapolis is pleased to announce the selection of Kevin Lewis as
executive director, replacing Kent Warden who served in the position for 22
years and will be retiring next month. Mr. Lewis will begin in his new role on
Nov. 16, 2011.
Kevin Lewis has more than 25 years of experience in association business,
including nearly 23 years devoted to increasing the vitality and economic growth
of the City of Minneapolis through his work with Meet Minneapolis (formerly the
Greater Minneapolis Convention & Visitors Association). He was active in the
development and successful completion of the major expansion of the Minneapolis
Convention Center in 2002.
“In the time Kent Warden has served as Greater Minneapolis BOMA’s Executive
Director, the association has doubled in size and more than doubled the
effective accomplishment of its mission: providing advocacy and education
serving the interests of the commercial real estate industry,” said Brian Burg,
president-Greater Minneapolis BOMA and vice president-Cushman &
Wakefield/NorthMarq.
“As challenging as it is to replace Kent, we are enthusiastic about our choice
to succeed him. Kevin Lewis brings us expertise in association governance,
strategic planning and implementation, and membership development. His
commitment to the growth and prosperity of Greater Minneapolis and experience in
the collaboration of business organizations and elected officials should serve
well the interests of our membership.”
During his tenure with Meet Minneapolis, Mr. Lewis served on the Executive
Management Team of the Minneapolis Convention Center. His advocacy experience
includes appearances before the City Council, the Mayor’s office, and various
State agencies, conducting meetings with the Governor’s office, both US
Senators, and the Mayors of Bloomington, St Paul, and Minneapolis. Under his
sales leadership, collaboration between the hospitality and business communities
resulted in eight new hotels constructed and opened in Minneapolis during the
past 10 years. Lewis was instrumental in securing the 2008 Republican National
Convention and served on the Local Organizing Committee. His most recent
position was Managing Director of Sales & Marketing at Council of Engineering
and Scientific Society Executives.
Lewis graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management.
