Introducing: Dr. Cedric Alexander

Dr. Cedric Alexander, Minneapolis' first and new Commissioner of Community Safety, will join BOMA to discuss his new role. He will oversee Mayor Jacob Frey's Office of Community Safety, which will consist of the fire and police departments, as well as 911, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Office of Violence Prevention - which will be renamed Neighborhood Safety.

Dr. Alexander began his career as a deputy sheriff in Florida. His 25 years in law enforcement led to him becoming Deputy Mayor of Rochester, New York, where he oversaw multiple agencies.

Dr. Alexander served on President Obama's Task Force on 21 Century Policing on the national stage. He has also worked as an expert for media outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox, The Washington Post, and The Hill.

Lastly, Alexander is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology. His experience guiding and administering mental health services and support to emergency first responders will be valuable to the community.
